Casual employees

Casual Touring rates

MPH Casual Touring employees are paid per hour, for every hour of work they perform, in accordance with the Award.

At minimum, Casual Touring employees are paid the Base Award Rate per hour plus 25% casual loading, plus the special overtime and penalty provisions of 17.5%, per clause 63.6(a) in the Award.

MPH currently applies an additional percent amount above the Minimum Award Rate and retains the right to vary this additional payment amount.

The calculation for Casual Touring hourly rates is:

(Base Award Rate + 25% Casual loading) + 17.5% = Casual Touring Minimum Award Rate
Minimum Award Rate + (3.0%) = MPH Hourly Rate

Understanding clause 63.6 in the LPA

Clause 63.6 in the Award sets special overtime and penalty provisions for the employees of sound and/or lighting companies and, the provision differs between Touring and Factory employees.

63.6(a) Touring employees (Weekly and Casual)

The intent of the special overtime and penalty provision is to acknowledge that Touring employees do not typically work “standard” working hours (eg. MON – FRI, 9am to 5pm) and work may be performed any day of the week, at any time of day and on Public Holidays.

This provision provides for Touring employees to be paid more per hour for all hours worked to allow for the necessary flexibility.
