What is the C-B-A assessment scale?

Assessments are made on a C-to-A scale where the letters broadly indicate;

C: Needs development

B: Shows progress

A: Mastery

Self-assessment

Specifically, for self-assessments, the C-B-A scale is;

C: This is not a skill I am proficient in yet; I am not comfortable or confident; I do not meet this requirement yet.

B: I have some experience / understanding in this area, but there’s more I need to learn; I am making progress on this requirement.

A: I can do this skill reliably and safely to the expected standard; I can demonstrate this knowledge and apply it appropriately; I meet this requirement.

Assessor-assessment

When Assessors are making assessments, a slightly revised C-B-A scale is used;

C: The Lighting Technician needs more development in this area; they do not meet the requirement yet.

B: The Lighting Technician can do this task under supervision, but not completely independently yet; they are making progress toward this requirement.

A: The Lighting Technician has mastered this skill. I am comfortable leaving the Lighting Technician to be wholly responsible for this task on their own (after they are provided parameters); they meet this requirement.
